A new service offered by a company called Digital Audio Tours promises to try and help make walking tours of cities more enjoyable. The service, known as AudioTreks, provides downloadable MP3 files of professionally narrated walking tours which can be placed on your digital audio player. Each "tour" is broken up into segments (individual MP3 files) which are numbered and can be matched to a corresponding PDF map you can download and print.
[Digital Audio Tours] Co-founder Andrea Reese said, "AudioTreks tours are like having a knowledgeable friend show you around to all the must-see spots." Partner Geoff Davis added that, "The tours take up little space on your player, and they're easy to stop and start as you go along."
Tours are currently available for neighborhoods of San Francisco, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. More cities will become available in the next few months.
